Stories of dreamers
Small businesses fight every day to keep the boat afloat. However, there are too many things they need to manage but not enough hands to do it.
And it’s a pity that they can’t develop their full potential. It’s more than that: it’s a tragedy.
Small companies are the drivers of innovation in this century. They bring creativity and invention to the business board game, and they should be praised for that.
Call them startups, SMEs, freelancers, sole traders… They all have a story to tell and worthy of being listened.
Small business owners are dreamers who go the extra mile. They represent the engine of change, inclusion, and minority representation.
With the internet spreading like wildfire, their voices can reach more people. Yet, not always have all the tools they need.
Slozano was born to help those who dream with a better future. Those who need a boost to make their ideas become results.
My name is Sergio Lozano, owner of Slozano, and I go by this quote from Through the Looking Glass, by Lewis Carroll:
Well, now that we have seen each other,’ said the Unicorn, ‘
if you‘ll believe in me, I’ll believe in you.
History of Slozano
It all started in 2018 when, after a few years working in digital marketing, and other few in journalism, I realized that I could grow by helping others grow. One inter-sectional quid pro quo.
If I put my know-how at the service of others, we would both benefit. They would get the expertise I provided and I would learn more as every organization is different.
I studied journalism in Madrid (Spain) and international business communications in Copenhagen (Denmark). These two seem to be very different but they all aim to tell stories: either to inform or to make others dream.
In Spain, I learned to write so I could tell the story of the marginalized. In Denmark, I learned to play the adults’ game in marketing and communications. Soon I found out that young professionals were thirsty to thrive. All this mixed up with a flair for design.
My professional acumen is young. My inspiration is older. Writers like Guy de Maupassant and Virginia Woolf inspired my focus of action. Just like them, I prefer to tell the story of those without a voice.
In the aggressive environment of digital marketing, I project my strength on those stories that need to be told. The dilemma I had in hands was finding out who were those without a voice and that I could help to develop a digital marketing strategy.
That was the moment when I decided to create my own business. After a few naming attempts, including Peach Butt, I came up with one. Something that truly represented me. The simpler, the better. My name: Sergio Lozano. That’s how Slozano was born.
In this quid pro quo of helping while learning, I thought of collaborating with those who lack resources. As a result, I started helping small ideas, projects, and NGOs with my skills. I balance this with my full-time job as Country Manager for online invoicing software meant for entrepreneurs and small companies.
Additionally, I always keep myself very close to the entrepreneurial scene. As I am in contact on a daily basis, I understand their main frustrations: lack of time and money.
Having worked in marketing for almost a decade, I understand that stories need a good teller. My experience come mostly from the fintech industry, which is such a fast-paced environment that pushed me to develop. Content management, SEO, copywriting, product marketing, growth hacking, and customer experience, among others, are no strangers to me.
If you want to connect with me, feel free to write to me in the contact form, or add me on LinkedIn. Below you will find a link to my profile, and on the homepage, you will find the contact form. See you around.
